Welcome! We are so happy you’ve found us in our new temporary spot on the web! We are in what we like to think of as “Phase 2” of our recovery from two major cyber attacks last month. The Times Argus wrote about the attacks on January 2, 2015, article is available here.

We expect to have a fabulous new, fully-functional website in place no later than Monday, February 9 (sooner if possible!).

In the meantime, we hope you’ll find whatever resources you need here. There’s information about adoptable animals, upcoming dog training classes, and a way for you to make a gift to support the animals.

Because of you, the 2014 CVHS Holiday Raffle was an terrific success, raising more than $25,000 for the animals!

The Holiday Raffle is a massive community effort. More than 48 businesses donated fabulous prizes. Our friends at The Mailing Center in Barre helped with the printing thousands of tickets.

Volunteers donated countless hours to sell tickets at farmer’s markets and craft fairs as well as to sort and file all those red and green tickets. Thousands of community members purchased tens of thousands of tickets.

Everyone at CVHS – two-leggeds and four-leggeds – wish to thank each and every one of you who participated in the raffle. The Holiday Raffle is a true community effort – your support makes possible everything that we do at CVHS. THANK YOU!

Dog Trainer (Part Time, Paid)

CVHS is seeking a part-time dog trainer. Primary responsibilities are to train CVHS dogs, staff and volunteers, and provide consultative support for the CVHS Dog Program.

Position Duties

• Perform as needed and consult in behavior evaluations, including SAFER, Canine-ality, Puppy-ality, and more
• Consult on the development of individual behavior modification plans for dogs with special behavioral needs
• Make recommendations to the Options Committee regarding dog behavior and safety
• Facilitate dog play groups and perform dog to dog introductions with potential adopters and CVHS dogs
• Design and conduct weekly trainings for the Mod Squad, a group of volunteers and staff trained to work on basic to advanced dog behavior needs
• Facilitate trainings and opportunities for advancement and use of special skills for staff, volunteers, Mod Squad, new adopters, and the public
